Accutane Users: Keep a Skin Moisturizer at Hand

by Martha Fitzharris

Acne frequently affects both teenagers and adults. For most of them, their acne problems can be treated with a daily skin care routine and over the counter medication; however, there is a percentage whose problems do not respond to mild or moderate treatment options.

Accutane is a medication that can cause several side effects. One such side effect is dry skin.

An astonishing 90% of all Accutane users get chapped lips while up to 80% get dry or itchy skin. For other, more acute symptoms, consult with your doctor about the appropriate treatment. Use an effective and natural moisturizing cream to treat the side effects caused by accutane.

Your skin moisturizer may have to be thick and creamy, but this will depend on your skin type. Moisturize dry skin as many times as you need to during the day. Do not just restrain yourself to applying moisturizer twice a day.

Finding proper dry skin relief will also depend on finding a good moisturizing routine. More than likely, Accutane will be part of a treatment that includes a cleansing regimen, so right after washing your face, pat it dry and apply your moisturizer.

In order to keep the moisture locked into the surface of your skin, you should apply your moisturizer before the water evaporates completely. When the water evaporates from your skin, it takes some of the skin's natural moisture along with it.

Other situations that you cannot control are the lack of moisture in the air or cold climates, nevertheless, however there are a few things you can do to help. You can counteract low humidity by using a humidifier at night. You can also lower the setting on your thermostat or air conditioner to help conserver humidity.

Do not stand in front of open flames or ovens for too long. Both situations can cause moisture problems in your skin. While cooking, you should leave the kitchen periodically to help reduce your chances of drying out your skin.

As for colder weather, make sure that you bundle up before going outside. Make sure that you protect your neck, face, and legs from the cold. You can keep warm without exposing yourself to excessively high temperatures, by sipping warm beverages.

Sipping water is also an ideal way to keep your skin moisturized. If you prefer to drink soda drinks instead of water, keep in mind that they are known to dehydrate your skin. Alcohol is also a dehydrating beverage, so try to moderate its intake.

One of the most common Accutane side effects is acne dry skin. This problem can be treated by using natural skin care products like BIOSKINBALM, even while still using Accutane. This natural skin cream not only treats dry skin, but it also treats all kinds of dry skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.
