Acne Cysts - Treatment Options for Cystic Acne

by Clarita Milles

Because of its severity, cystic acne is the worst form of acne. In comparison to pimples, whiteheads and others, cystic acne is by far more harmful. This is caused by an infection in the inner layers of the dermis that stimulates the formation of nodules. Another denomination for this type of acne is acne vulgaris. The factor that contributes to the formation of acne cysts and acne nodules is clogged pores that don't allow the normal flow of the sebum to the skin surface. The inflammation of the area is a defense mechanism developed by the body to attack infections. When there are a lot of bacteria, the immune system reacts more powerfully; this often results in a larger size pimple, better known as an acne cyst.

This type of reaction causes the body to release sebum. If the flow of sebum exceeds the normal level, bacteria in the follicles and skin surface will produce a larger infection. The area gets so aggravated by the chemicals issued by the breakdown of sebum that the pimple may grow to be as large as five millimeters in diameter due to inflammation and a surplus of bacteria and oil.

Understanding Acne Cysts

Retention keratosis is another factor that can make facial cysts more severe. This happens when the skin cells, particularly those lining the hair follicle are shed improperly. Improper disposal of cells leads to the clogging of these follicles. If not treated, the infection can amplify in size and area which causes acne cysts to become more serious.

Hormones can also be a factor in nodulocystic acne. Testosterone and androgen hormones can help to increase sebum levels. Cysts are formed as a consequence of sebum ducts being clogged since they impair the normal sebum outflow. Acne can be directly related to genetic and lifestyle of the person who suffers from it. Stress behavior can contribute to or even increase acne.

Treating acne cysts is possible despite the fact that they are very serious and the condition seems hopeless. Many dermatologists prescribe a drug called Accutane, and is one taken in the form of a tablet. Its function is to shrink the oil glands which will lower the acne infections. The success rate of Accutane is as high as 80% on the other hand; severe side effects like depression have been seen in some patients. This medication should be taken only if all other methods have been exhausted.

There are treatments such as cortisone injections that are normally administered by a dermatologist to cure cystic acne. This method gives excellent results since it reduces the inflammation and redness of the skin without any pain for the patient. After the injection is administrated the pimple is lowered to the skin level making it less noticeable. Some of the problems that may occur after receiving the injection are temporary skin discoloration and bleeding.

Cystic acne is very difficult to overcome but it is not impossible. Cystic acne can be quite sensitive so it is wise to choose an acne skin care method that will not irritate or harm the skin. Nowadays the market offers several natural options to treat cystic acne.

Acne vulgaris treatments must consist of the right products for your skin type without harming or making the condition worse. Natural acne treatments such as BIOSKINFORTE are comprised of ingredients that can cure cystic acne. BIOSKINFORTE is also a great acne scar treatment.
